Abstract
In this study , the relationship of clinical and laboratory results with ANCA positivity in patients with ulcerative colitis determined by indirect immunofloressein method was investigated (total ANCA is 47.8 % ; 41.3 % p-ANCA, 6.5% c-ANCA). The activitiy level of the disease, duration of disease, affected region of the colon, kind of therapy gıven, use of steroids, age, sex, erythrocyle sedimentation rate (ESR), hematocrit level, and serum albumin level were not found to affect ANCA positivity (for each of them p>0.05). Interestingly, four patients with pancolitis were all found to be p-ANCA negative. Although this may be explained by the more intensive corticosteroid treatment given to these patients, there is a need for furter research on this subject with a larger number of pancolitis patients.
