Abstract

Angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhib¬itors are widely used in the treatment of heart failure and hypertension. There are few reports on hepatotoxic¬ity due to these drugs. In this report, we present two cases of acute hepatitis associated with ACE inhibitors. In the first case, signs and symptoms of hepatitis oc-cured 20 days after the initiation ofcaptopril treatment and the clinical and laboratory findings returned to normal during the 3 months period following the drug withdrawn. In the second case, hepatotoxic symptoms and signs were observed on the 45th day of enalapril treatment and the patient recovered totally in 1.5 months after the termination of the treatment.
