Insertion of overtube with the aid of esophageal bougie dilator. A convenient method

Özet
Amaç: "Overtube" üst gastrointestinal sistemin endoskopik incelenmesinde artan sıklıkta kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, özofagus varis ligasyon tedavisi sırasında, özofageal buji dilatatör üzerinden "overtube" yerleştirme tekniğini tanımladık. Yöntem: "Overtube" buji dilatatör (Stigman-Goff endoscopic ligator) üzerinden yerleştirildi. İşlem süresi, atılan band sayısı, işlemin zorluğu veya işlem sonrası gelişen şikayetler, komplikasyonlar kaydedildi. Sonuçlar: Çalışmaya 20 hasta (erkek 13, kadın 7, ortanca yaş:44, sınırlar; 25-60) alındı. Olguların hepsinde özofageal, 3'ünde ise gastrik varisler vardı. Bir hasta işlem sırasında sıkıntı hissi tanımladı. Bunun dışında ciddi komplikasyon gelişmedi. Sonuç: Özofageal buji dilatatör üzerinden overtube yerleştirme işlemi kolay, güvenli, zaman almayan ve "overtube" bağlı komplikasyonları minimale indiren bir yöntemdir.
Abstract
Background/aims: The overtube is likely to be increasingly used in upper gastrointestinal endoscopy. This study describes the insertion of an overtube over an esophagial bougie dilator during esophageal varix ligation. Methods: The overtube was placed using the bougie-assisted (Stigman-Goff endoscopic ligator) technique and the duration of the whole procedure, including number of bands used, development of symptoms after the procedure and diffuculties encountered in insertion were recorded. Results: Twenty patients (13 male, seven female, median age:44 years, ranges: 25-60) were studied. Esophagial varices were present in all patients and gastric varices in three. No serious complications were seen but in one patient, mild discomfort occurred. Conclusion: The insertion of the overtube over an esophageal bougie dilator is an easy and safe procedure, takes a short time and minimizes the risk of overtube related complications.
