Abstract

In this study, 8053 sheep blood sera were tested serologically and 463 foetuses were examined bacteriologically between the years 2003 and 2007 for the agents causing abortion. 395 (14.99%) of 2635 sheep sera were founded antibody against to Brucellosis, 130 (7.44%) of 1746 to Campylobacteriosis, 3 (0.23%) of 1296 to Salmonellosis and 43 (1.81%) of 2376 to Chlamydiosis. Brucella spp. were isolated in 139 (30.02%) foetuses, Campylobacter spp. were isolated from 6 (1.29%) of 463 foetuses. All isolated Campylobacter spp. were identified as a Campylobacter fetus subsp.fetus. The distributions of the results in the years were compared with the retrospective study which was performed between 1993-1997 for gathering the latest information about the agents which cause abortion.
