Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is; Is the determination of the relationship between oxidative stress and platelet donation that may occur in single dose apheresis platelet donors. Methods: Twenty-six volunteer apheresis donors who agreed to participate in the study and completed the proclamation form received a single dose of thrombopheresis. The data obtained within the study were evaluated using the t-test in the SPSS 15.0 program. Results: At the end of the study, a significant increase (p: 0.001) was found in donor serum TAS values, while no significant change was found in TOS and MDA values. Conclusion: The data we have obtained; Suggests that the single dose thrombopheresis treatment may not be harmful to the oxidative stress, but may be beneficial by looking at the amount of antioxidant that is increasing. Despite numerous studies on reactive mechanisms of oxygen species and cellular structures, it is still a field that remains updated as it is associated with the pathogenesis of many diseases. It is thought that new and more comprehensive studies in this direction will play an important role in explaining the clinic of diseases in the future.
