Daha önce hemodiyaliz (HD)'in oksidatif stresi artırdığı gösterilmişti. Çalışmamızda tek seans HD'in eritrositlerdeki antioksidan enzimler ve serum malondialdehid (MDA) düzeyi üzerine etkisini incelemeyi amaçladık. Gereç ve yöntem: 37 HD hastasında Serum MDA, eritrosit glutatyon peroksidaz (GPx), superoksit dismutaz (SOD) ve katalaz'ın diyaliz öncesi ve sonrası değerleri karşılaştırıldı. Bulgular: HD sonrası serum MDA .düzeyi anlamlı şekilde azalırken (6.97Ü.14 nmol/ml'den 2.40±0.39 nmol/ml'ye, p=0.004), eritrosit GPx, SOD ve katalaz değerlerinde anlamlı değişiklik olmadı (p>0.05). Sonuç: Sonuçlarımız HD'in eritrositlerdeki antioksidan enzimler üzerine etkisinin olmadığını göstermiştir. HD'nin olumlu etkisi sadece lipit peroksidasyon ürünü olan serum MDA düzeyine sınırlı kalmıştır.
Abstract
Oxidative stress has been defined as a loss of counterbalance between free radical or reactive oxygen species production and antioxidant systems. Chronic renal failure is almost associated with oxidative stress. Elevated oxidative status and reduced antioxidant defence systems in patients with end-stage renal disease accelerate the prevalence of uremic chronic complications. It has been shown that hemodialysis (HD) increases the oxidative stress. Therefore, we want to assess the effect of one HD session on erythrocyte antioxidant enzymes and serum malondialdehyde (MDA) level. Material and methods: Serum MDA, erythrocyte glutathione peroxidase (GPx), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase levels were compared between prehemodialysis and posthemodialysis in thirtyseven HD patients. Results: MDA level was significantly decreased from after HD (6.97±1.14 nmol/ml to 2.40±0.39 nmol/ml, p=0.004) whereas erythrocyte GPx, SOD and catalase levels did not change (p>0.05 each parameter). Conclusion: These findings indicate that HD did not effect on erythrocyte antioxidant enzyme levels. However its beneficial effect was only limited on lipid peroxidation product serum MDA level.
