Özet

Kişiler, çeşitli nedenlerden dolayı açlık grevine gidebilirler. Açlıkgrevi, bir protesto ya da talep yöntemi olarak kullanılan yemek yemeğireddetme durumudur. Açlık grevleri daima bir durumun protestosuylailişkilidir. Birçok olayda, açlık kısa bir süre ile sınırlıdır, asıl düşüncebelirli bir amaç için dikkati çekmek ve yetkilileri baskı altında tutmayaçabalamaktır. Açlık grevi, Roma döneminden bu yana birçok kültürdebelli durumları protesto etmek amacıyla kullanılmaktadır.Açlık grevleri çeşitli ortamlarda meydana gelebilir. Bunlar mahpusve tutuklu açlık grevcilerinin bakımını sağlayan sağlık profesyonelleriiçin önemli tıbbi ve yasal ikilemlerle yol açabilir. Bu makale açlığıntıbbi yönleri ile açlık grevci tutuklu hastaların bakımına yönelik hekiminverdiği kararları yasal ve insan hakları bakımından incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır.

Abstract

Individuals may go on hunger strikes for a variety of reasons. Hunger strike can be defined as food refusal used as a form of protest or demand. Hunger strikes have always been associated with some form of protest. In many cases, fasting will be limited to a short period of time, the main idea being to attract attention and try to put pressure on the authorities for a spesifik purpose. Hunger strike has been used as a visible means of protest in many cultures at least since Roman times. Hunger strikes occur in various settings. They result in important medical and legal dilemmas for health care professionals caring for hunger strikers that are imprisoned or detained. This article aims to describe the medical aspects of starvation and examine the legal and human right dimensions of decision making of physicians for imprisoned patients that are hunger striking.
