An experimental study on the effects of increasing turbulence in intake manifold on engine performance

Özet

Bu çalışmada, emme manifoldundaki türbülansın artırılmasının motor performansına etkileri araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla, bir benzin motoru kullanılarak deneyler önce benzin sonra ortalama % 90 benzin + % 10 LPG ile yapılmıştır. Benzin+LPG' li çalışma şartlarında, LPG'nin 3 bar basınçla emme manifolduna gönderilmesi sonucu oluşturulan türbülans artışıyla benzinli çalışmaya kıyasla motor gücünde % 1.1 artma özgül yakıt tüketiminde de % 4,4 azalma olduğu gözlemlenmiştir.

Abstract

In this study, the effects of increasing turbulence in intake manifold on engine performance has been researched. For this aim, using a sprak ignition engine, at the beginning of experiments pure gasoline was tested then engine was operated with gasoline+LPG. When operating conditions with gasoline+LPG, LPG was introduced to intake manifold at 3 bar pressure which caused an increment in turbulence compared to gasoline used condition. Therefore the engine performance increased about 1.1% and bsfc decreased about 4,5 %.
