Özet

Osmanlı Devleti 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısından 20. yüzyılın ilk çeyreğine kadar, kısa aralıklarla büyük kayıplar verdiği savaşlar yapmıştır. Bu serüvenin en son ve en yıkıcı halkası I. Dünya Savaşı'dır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Osmanlı Devleti'nin fiili olarak savaşa girmesine neden olan Karadeniz'de Osmanlı-Rus filolarının çatışması ve Rus limanlarının bombalanması olayının topluma yansıtılma biçimini, olay sonrasında hem Türk toplumunun hem de İttifak ve İtilaf Devletleri'nin tepkisini ve savaşın çeşitli boyutlarına dair devrin bakışını dönemin kaynakları ışığında ortaya koymaktır. Bu bağlamda, dönemin resmi yazışmalarının, kamuoyu ile en etkin iletişim aracı olan yerli ve yabancı süreli yayınların ve hatıratların kullanımına ağırlık verilmiştir. Nihai olarak savaş gerçekliğinin toplumsal algıda nasıl şekillendirildiği resmedilmeye çalışılmıştır

Abstract

Following the second half of the 19th century until the first quarter of the 20th century, Ottoman Empire had to fight wars in short intervals ending up major losses. The World War I constituted the last chain of the trajedy. In the light of the period's resources, the study aims at revealing the reflaction of how the conflict between Ottoman- Russian fleets in the Black Sea was presented to the society, secondly understanding the reactions in Ottoman Empire, Alliance and the Entente States and lastly trying to manifest the point of view of the era to the various dimensions of the war. Within this framework, this study has concentrated on the offical correspondence of the period, periodicals which is the most effective tool to communicate with the public and the memories. Finally the study attempted to depict how the reality of the war was shaped in the public perception.
