Özet
ilk olarak 1971 yılında Frank Gunston tarafından tasarımı yapılan ve uygulanan Gunston polisentrik diz protezi, normal diz biyomekaniğini göz önünde bulunduran ilk protezdir. Polisentrik diz artroplastisi ile ağrıyı azaltmada ve preoperatif hareket açıklığını ve eklem dengesizliğini korumada ümit verici sonuçlar elde edilmiş olmasına rağmen, protez tasarımının ve artroplasti teknolojisinin hızla ilerlemesi polisentrik diz protezini demode hale getirmiştir. Burada ilk operasyondan 32 yıl sonra Gunston polisentrik diz artroplastisinin total diz artroplastisi ile revize edildiğ i 58 yaşındaki erkek hasta sunulmaktadır.
Abstract
The Gunston polycentric knee arthroplasty, first designed and performed by Frank Gunston in 1971, is the first prosthesis considering the natural knee biomechanics. Although the polycentric knee arthroplasty showed encouraging results to relieve pain and to preserve the preoperative range of motion and joint instability, the improvements in prosthesis design and arthroplasty technology rapidly made the polycentric knee prosthesis obsolete. Herein, we report a 58-yearold male patient who had revision of the Gunston polycentric knee arthroplasty with total knee arthroplasty performed 32 years after the initial operation.
