Abstract
In this study, the methods used for the analysis of coupled shear walls have been compared. First, the use of coupled shear walls in high rise buildings has been introduced and some information about structural behaviour of coupled shear walls has been given. Then, the equivalent frame method, finite element method and continuous connection method which are used for the analysis of coupled shear walls have been explained. When the methods are introduced, the main idea for the methods are explained briefly and the assumptions for the methods are made. For each method, governing equations are given and the solutions are explained. All the geometric and cross-sectional properties of the walls, have been kept variable from zone to zone in the examples. Some numerical examples have been given and the results obtained have been compared with the results that are obtained from finite element codes called SAP90 and PAFEC.
