Abstract
SinceStaging of the primary tumour and the neck was evaluated from the records of 95 larynx carcinoma pati¬ents in whom both the larynx and the neck were surgically treated. Primary tumour was evaluated correctly in 75.00 % of pa¬tients with endoscopy, and in 93.33% of patients with endoscopy+Computerized tomography (CT). Addition of CT to endos-copy contributed in determining subglottic extension, thyroid cartilage and preepiglottic space invasion. In the neck overall accuracy ofN(+) disease evaluation-were 75.44%, 82.35%, 100% for palpation, ultrasonograpy (USG) and CT respectively. There results show that USG results have a higher degree of correlation with pathology than palpation in the assessment of neck disease, but CT gives the best results in combination with clinical evaluation both for staging of the larynx and the neck.
