Bulgular: Hastaların %48,9’u kadın, %51,1’i erkek, yaş ortalaması 34,30±15,03 yıl idi. Histopatolojik tanıların %23,8’i konjenital,%40,1’i inflamatuar, %16,3’ü benign neoplastik ve %19,9’u malignneoplastik kitlelerden oluşmaktaydı. Sonuç: Boyunda kitle her yaş grubunda görülebilir. Yaş, ayırıcı tanıda en önemlifaktördür. Ancak kesin tanı histopatolojik inceleme ile konur.

Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the distribution of histopathological diagnoses of 307 patients who were operated for neck mass or underwent excisional biopsy between 2011- 2017 according to age, gender and years. Material and Methods: A total of 307 (150 females and 157 males) patients were included in the study. Age, gender, histopathological diagnosis and time of diagnosis were recorded in all patients. Results: 48.9% of the patients were female, 51.1% were male, and the mean age was 34.30±15 years. 23.8% of the histopathological diagnoses were congenital, 40.1% inflammatory, 16.3% benign neoplastic and 19.9% malignant neoplastic masses. The most common histopathologic diagnosis was infectious lymphadenitis (16.9%). When the distribution of the diagnostic groups were examined by years, no difference was found. However, there was a significant difference between all diagnostic groups in terms of age (p<0.001). The lowest mean age was found to be congenital and the highest mean age was malignant neoplastic group. There was a gender difference between the diagnostic groups (p<0.001). The gender ratio of the patients in the benign neoplastic group was significantly higher than that of the congenital, inflammatory and malignant neoplastic group. Conclusion: Neck mass can be seen in any age group. Age is the most important factor in differential diagnosis. However, the diagnosis is made by histopathological examination.
