Abstract
Various algorithms have been created in the treatment of COVID-19, but there is no precise and proven treatment yet. Although vaccination studies are continuing in many countries, including our country, it seems unlikely that it will to be get into use soon. For these reasons, self and social protection from COVID-19 gain crucial importance to control pandemic. The isolation of COVID-19 patients after quick and accurately diagnosing and revealing the connections with the filiation method are the most important parts of protection from this disease. The polymerase chain reaction test from nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swab is the commonly used diagnostic test for this disease. However, the transmission of the disease is caused by high contact with droplets and mucous membranes in the face. Since high level of droplets may occur in the sampling process, healthcare workers are at high risk during this procedure. Therefore, the correct and effective use of personal protective equipment and barrier measures during sampling minimizes the risk of contamination in healthcare workers. In this article, the features of oropharyngealnasopharyngeal sampling and sample collection areas for COVID-19 pandemic are presented.
