Combined approach in complicated frontal sinusitis

Özet

Komplikasyonlu frontal sinüzit halen önemli mortalite ve morbiditeye yol açabilen bir patoloji olup, tedavisi cerrahidir. Cerrahi yöntem patolojinin yaygınlığına ve komplikasyonların derecesine göre seçilir. Endoskopik sinüs cerrahisi halen seçilecek ilk yöntem olmasına rağmen, olgumuzda olduğu gibi, frontal sinüs lateraline uzanmış komplikasyonlu olgularda osteoplastik flep yaklaşımı ile kombine edilmesi gerekebilmektedir. Bu yazıda sağ göz kapağı üzerinden pürülan drenaj, göz kapakları ve alın üzerinde şişlik ve hassasiyet ve orta şiddette baş ağrısı yakınmaları ile başvuran 52 yaşında bir erkek olgu sunuldu.

Abstract

Complicated frontal sinusitis is a pathology which still leads to important mortality and morbidity, and its treatment is surgical. The surgical approach is selected according to the extensiveness of pathology and degree of complications. Although endoscopic sinus surgery is still the first-line modality of choice, complicated cases extending laterally to the frontal sinus may require to be combined with osteoplastic flap approach, as in our case. Herein, we present a 52-year-old male case who was admitted with complaints of purulent drainage on the right eyelid, swelling and tenderness on the eyelids and forehead, and moderate headache.
