Özet

Lumbar disk hernilerinin tedavisinde en etkin yöntem tartışma konusudur. Lumbar disk hernilerinin spontan resolusyonu nadir görülen bir durumdur. Olgumuzda, lumbar düzeyde kendiliğinden gerileyen disk hernili hasta sunulmuştur. Hastanın bulguları disk hernisinin resolusyonu ile uyumlu olarak iyileşmiş olup ve bu durum manyetik rezonans görüntüleme ile doğrulanmıştır. Lumbar diskin rezolusyonu; dehidrasyon, resorbsiyon ve inflamatuar reaksiyon nedeniyle gerçekleşmiş olabilir. Bu makalede, literatür gözden geçirilmiş olup spontan disk rezolusyonun olası mekanizmaları tartışılmıştır.

Abstract

There is still a controversy on the most effective method for the treatment of lumbar disc herniations. Spontaneous regression of a herniated disc is an uncommon situation. Here, we present a case of significant lumbar disc herniation with spontaneous regression. The clinical findings of the patient improved with the resolution of the herniation and the condition was documented on serial MRI studies. Regression of the herniation could have been due to dehydration, resorption or inflammatory reaction. The literature is reviewed and the possible mechanisms of spontaneous resolution are discussed.
