Abstract

Summary: - The aim of the present study was to investigate gestational status, pathology and incidence of genital organ disorders of ewes slaughtered at the abattoir iıi Şanlıurfa province. For this purpose, ovarium, oviduct, uterus and cervix of 1408 ewes slaughtered at Dem-et abattoir were examined. Out of 1408 genital tracts, gestation was determined in 474 (33.66%) cases. There were some pathologic changes in 163 (17.45%) cases, out of 934 genital tracts without gestation. In the study, ovaries, oviduct, uterus and cervix showed some pathological conditions in 31 (3.31%), 3 (0.32%), 124 cases (13.27%) and 5 cases (0.53%), respectively. In and around the ovaries, the following conditions were recorded; cystic corpora lutea (1.39%), follicular cyst. (0.53%), luteal cyst (0.53%), parovarian cyst (0.32%), periovaritis- adhesions (0.53%). Pathological changes of oviduct were hydrosalpinx (0.21%) and salpingitis (0.10%). Inflammatory changes were the largest group of uterine abnormalities. The pathological changes of uterus were classified as follows; uterus unicornis (0.10%), melanosis (5.88%), glandular hyperplasia (0.10%), hydrometra (0.21%), catarrhal endometritis (0.53%), pyometra (0.86%), chronic non-purulent endometritis (5.57%). The cervical lesions were acut cervicitis (0.21%) and chronic non-purulent cervicitis (0.32%).
