Abstract
The research was carried out with aim to investigate to effects of harvest times on baby corn quality class and mineral nutrient contents of dent and sweet corn in Isparta conditions in 2015 and 2016 years. Baby corns were harvested in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 8th days from tasseling appearance time. The experiment was set up according to a Randomized Complete Block Design in a factorial arrangement with three replicates using the “Bora” F1 dent corn and “Merit” F1sweet corn cultivars. Effects of harvest times on quality class of baby corn were found significant for both the cultivars. According to, the average results from the two years and TAS 1504-2007 standard, extra class, class 1 and class 2 ratios of baby corn were determined as 72.12%, 18.75% and 9.13% in dent corn, 64.75, 25.05, respectively and 10.3% in sweet corn, respectively. According to different harvest times in the dent corn and sweet corn and, the N, P, K, Mg, Fe and Zn were determined between %1.66-2.36, %0.270-0.383, %1.10-1.44, 0.105-0.165, 22.20-26.41 ppm and 17.04-20.36 ppm, respectively. Generally, the mineral nutrient content of sweet corn cultivar was higher than dent corn. The baby corn mineral nutrient contents were decreased by delaying harvest time, and while the highest mineral nutrient content was obtained from first harvest time, while last harvest time had the lowest value.
