Bu hastaların 13’ü erkek (%61,9), 8’i kadın (%38,1) idi. Anti-HCV pozitifliği 8 hastada (%5,1) tespit edildi. Bu hastaların 3’ü erkek (%37,5), 5’i kadın (%62,5) idi.

Abstract

Introduction: In this study it was aimed to mention high infection rates of hepatitis B and hepatitis C by examining the frequency of these diseases among the patients who were about to be operated on. Materials and Methods: Hospital automation records of 159 patients who were scheduled for surgery were evaluated routinely for the seropositivity of hepatitis B and hepatitis C in the preparation period of operation between June 2002 and February 2003. Results: 93 of the patients (58.8%) were men and 66 of the patients were women (41.5%) The average age of the patients was 42.3 (range: 1-78) years. In 21 patients (13.2%) Hepatitis B surface antigen was positive. 13 of these patients were men (61.9%) 8 were women (38.1%). Anti HCV positivity was found in 8 patients (5.1%) and 3 of these patients were men (37.5%) 5 were women (62.5%). Conclusion: Hepatitis B and C infections are among the diseases which result in fatal complications and have high infection rates for the surgeons. 2-10% and 0.2-5% rates of infection prevalence was declared for Hepatitis B and C in order but, higher rates were found in the study group. It is mentioned that the urology surgeons who are in contact with blood, urine, spit, sperma and vagina secretion of the patients with hepatitis are under a high risk of being infected and it is found that the risk is much higher in our region.
