Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışma, spinal kord yaralanmalı bireylerin yaralanmadan sonra, topluma katılım durumlarını ve toplumu katılımı etkileyen faktörleri incelemek amacıyla yapılmış bir derlemedir. Yöntem: CINAHL, Medline, Web of Science, ERIC veri tabanları, Ocak 2009 - Ocak 2019 zaman aralığı belirlenerek ve “spinal cord injury, social adaptation, social problems, social expectations, social life, discrimination” anahtar kelimeleri ve kombinasyonları kullanılarak taranmış, 1335 makaleye ulaşılmıştır.

Abstract

Objective: This study was conducted to investigate community participation of individuals with spinal cord injury after injury and the factors affecting community participation. Method: The time interval between January 2009 - January 2019 was determined, CINAHL, Medline, Web of Science, ERIC data bases were scanned using the keywords “spinal cord injury, social adaptation, social problems, social expectations, social life, discrimination” and their combinations, and 1335 articles were retrieved. A total of 9 articles, which were in line with the criteria for inclusion in the study, were evaluated. Six of the articles reviewed were quantitative and three were qualitative studies. Results: Factors affecting community participation of individuals with spinal cord injury were collected under the headings of individual characteristics, diagnosis of disease and secondary complications, equipment, self-sufficiency and support systems. Conclusion: It has been determined that self-sufficiency, family and social support networks, which are the factors that affect the individuals’ community participation, have a stronger effect on community participation. It is recommended that health professionals work on the development of these aspects in rehabilitation as part of the main objectives of the care and treatment processes.
