Pediatri Hastalarında Bitki ve Bitkisel İçerikli Ürün Kullanım Alışkanlıklarının Değerlendirilmesi

Özet
Amaç: Bitki ve bitkisel içerikli ürünlerin zararsız olduğu düşünülerek aileler tarafından çocuklara birçok amaçla kullandırılmaktadır. Bu araştırmada pediatri hastalarında bitki ve bitkisel içerikli ürün kullanım sıklığının ve ebeveynlerin bu yöntemleri tercih etme durumları ve nedenlerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve yöntemler: Bu araştırma kesitsel bir çalışmadır. Araştırma 10.12.2019-10.02.2020 tarihleri arasında Gazi Üniversitesi Hastanesi Genel Pediatri Polikliniği’nde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmaya 720 kişi katılmıştır. Araştırmada anket formları kullanılmıştır. Sorular ebeveynlerin demografik bilgilerini ve bitkisel ürün kullanımını tespit etmeye yönelik hazırlanmıştır. Veriler için tanımlayıcı istatistikler, ki-kare, normal dağılıma uymayan veri analizlerinde Kruskal-Wallis H testleri kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Katılımcıların %74,4’ü çocuğuna bitki veya bitkisel içerikli ürün kullandırmıştır. Ebeveynlerin %72,4’ü bitkileri çocuklarının öksürük ve boğaz ağrısını hafifletmek için kullanmıştır. Çocuklarına bitkisel içerikli ürün kullandıran ebeveynlerin %41,6’sı bunları kimseye danışmadan kullandırdığını belirtmiştir. Ebeveynlerin %20,9’unun bitkisel ürünleri eczaneden temin ettiği görülmüştür. Sonuç: Toplumun her kesiminde bulunan ebeveynler çocukları için bitki ve bitkisel içerikli ürünleri yaygın bir şekilde kullanmaktadır. Bu ürünlerin genellikle sağlık profesyonellerinin tavsiyesi dışında kullanıldığı tespit edilmiştir.
Abstract
Objective: Plants and herbal products are thought to be harmless and are used by families for children for many purposes. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the frequency of using plant and herbal products in pediatric patients, and the parents’ preference for these methods and their reasons. Materials and Methods: This research is a cross-sectional study. The research was carried out between 10.12.2019-10.02.2020 in Pediatric Policlinic at Gazi University Hospital. 720 people participated in the study. Questionnaire forms were used in the research. The questions were prepared to determine the demographic information of the parents and the use of herbal products. Descriptive statistics for the data, chi-square, Kruskal-Wallis H tests were used for data analysis that did not conform to normal distribution. Results: 74,4% of the participants made their children use plants or herbal products. 72,4% of the parents used the herbs to alleviate their children’s cough and sore throat. 41,6% of the parents who used herbal products for their children stated that they used them without consulting anyone. It was observed that 20,9% of the parents obtained herbal products from the pharmacy. Conclusion: Parents from all social groups use plants and herbal products for their children. It has been found that these products are generally used without the advice of health professionals.
