40 Yaş ve Üzeri Kadınların Menopoza İlişkin Bilgi Tutum ve Davranışlarının Belirlenmesi

Özet

Amaç: Çalışma 40 yaş ve üzeri kadınların menopoza ilişkin bilgi, tutum ve davranışlarını belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Çalışma tanımlayıcı tipte yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın evrenini Gaziantep ili Şehitkâmil ilçesinde Yenimahalle, Umut ve Çıksorut mahallelerinde yaşayan 2.000 kişi oluşturmuştur. Örneklemi ise 2000 kişiden basit rastgele yöntemle seçilmiş 401 kişi oluşturmuştur. Veriler Haziran - Ağustos 2010 tarihleri arasında toplanmış olup verilerin değerlendirilmesinde; frekans, yüzde kikare kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya sadece Türkçe konuşabilen kadınların alınması ve bölgenin yüksek oranda çalışmayan kadınlardan oluşması araştırmanın sınırlılığıdır. Bulgular: Kadınların %69,6’ının menopoza girdiği, %32,3’ünün 3-5 yıldır menopozda olduğu, %96,8’inin menopoza doğal yolla girdiği, %89,5’inin menopoz hakkında bilgisinin olmadığı, %95’8’inin Hormon Replasman Tedavisi (HRT) almadığı belirtilmiştir. Kadınların %99,8’inin menopozal sıkıntılarla nasıl baş edeceğini bilmediği, menopoza girip girmeme durumlarının menopozal yakınmaları bilme durumları arasında anlamlı ilişki olduğu(p<0,05), menopoza girme şekilleri ve menopozal yakınmaları bilme durumları arasında anlamlı ilişki (p<0,05) çıkmıştır. Sonuç: Katılımcıların menopoz semptomları ve bu süreç ile nasıl sağlıklı baş edileceği konusunda bilgi sahibi olmadıkları saptanmıştır.

Abstract

Objective: This study was conducted to determine the knowledge of and attitudes and behaviours towards menopause among women aged 40 years and over. Method: This was designed as a descriptive study. The population of the study consisted of 2.000 people living in Yenimahalle, Umut and Çıksorut neighbourhoods in Şehitkâmil district of Gaziantep province. The sample was composed of 401 people selected out of 2000 by means of simple random sampling. The data were collected between June and August 2010 and frequency, percentage and chi-square were used in the analysis of data. The inclusion of the women only, who could speak Turkish and the demographic pattern of the region that was mostly composed of nonemployed women were the limitations of the study. Findings: Of the women, 69,6% have gone through menopause, 32,3% experienced menopause for 3-5 years, 96,8% have undergone natural menopause, 89,5% had no knowledge about menopause, 95,8% were not receiving Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). 99.8% of the women did not know how to cope with menopausal distress, there were significant relationships between their menopausal status and their knowledge about menopausal complaints (p <0.05) and between their modes of going through menopause and the knowledge about menopausal complaints (p <0, 05). Conclusion: It was found that the participants had no knowledge about the symptoms of menopause and how to deal with this process in a healthy way.
