Abstract

Purpose: This study was planned to investigate the differences with the effect of functional independence levels, quality of life and depression on the individuals with physical and mental disabilities. Methods: A total of 75 physical and mentally disabled individuals were included in the study. Beck Depression Inventory was used for depression and the Functional Independence Measure was used for functional status, Short Form-36 scale was used for quality of life. Results: There was no significant difference in terms of depression between the groups (p=0.983), but there was a significant difference in terms of functional independence parameters (p=0.032). Significant findings were found in the quality of life (p = 0.017) . Conclusion: In special education and rehabilitation centers, problems such as functional status and depression should be identified and tried to be eliminated. The effects of physical activity programs of these groups are calculated and multidimensional planning is required.
