Özet

Amaç: Kadına yönelik şiddet toplumda en önemli sosyal ve sağlık problemlerinden biridir. Konu hakkında, sağlık çalışanlarının önemli sorumlulukları bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışma, kadına en yakın olan ebelik mesleğini gelecekte icra edecek olan ebelik öğrencilerinin kadına yönelik şiddete yaklaşımlarını, görüş ve deneyimlerini belirlemek amacıyla planlanmıştır. Gereç ve yöntem: Tanımlayıcı tipteki bu çalışmanın evrenini, bir Sağlık Yüksek Okulu Ebelik Bölümü 2. (N=50), 3. (N=50) ve 4. (N=60) sınıflarında öğrenim gören toplam 160 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama süreci sonunda 2. Sınıf öğrencilerinin %40'ına, 3. Sınıf öğrencilerinin %46'sına, 4. Sınıf öğrencilerinin ise %100'üne (n=103; kapsama yüzdesi %64,3) ulaşılmıştır. Çalışma hakkında öğrencilere bilgi verildikten sonra katılmayı kabul eden gönüllüler araştırmaya dâhil edilmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından literatür taranarak öğrencilerin kadına yönelik şiddete ilişkin görüş ve deneyimlerini belirlemek amacıyla 20 sorudan oluşan anket formu ve 7 soruluk tanıtıcı bilgi formu kullanılmıştır. Veriler SPSS 16.0 istatistik programı ile analiz edilmiştir.Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 21,56±1,90 olup tümü kadındır. Öğrencilerin %75,7'sinin kadına şiddetin önlenmesinde ebelerin rolü olduğunu, %29,1'inin hayatlarının herhangi bir döneminde şiddete maruz kaldığı, %23,3'ünün fiziksel şiddete, %5,8'inin duygusal şiddete maruz kaldıkları öğrencilerin %15,6'ının şiddet karşısında ağlayarak rahatladıkları ve %6,8'inin sustukları belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin %77,0'ının çocuğu suç işlediğinde ceza vereceğini, gebenin şiddete uğradığını gördüğünde ebe olarak %55,9'unun gerekli yerlere bildireceği saptanmıştır.Sonuç: Geleceğin sağlık profesyoneli olacak ebelik öğrencilerinin şiddete maruz kaldığı, çocuğu suç işlediğinde ceza vermeye yatkın oldukları görülmekte, kadına şiddetin önlenmesinde ebelerin rolü olduğunu düşünmektedir.

Abstract

Aim:Violence against women (VAW) is one of most important social and health problems in the society. Healthcare employees have important responsibilities about the subject. The aim of the study was planned the determination of the views, experiences and approaches of the midwifery students who will be midwives and work very closely with women in the future, about the violence against women.Methodology: The descriptive survey was consisted of total number of 160 students who are the second (N=50), third (N=50) and fourth year (N=60) students at the Department of Midwifery in a Health High School. After the data collection procedure, 40% of the second year, 46% of the third year and 100%of the fourth year students had been reached (64.3% of the total (n=103) Before the survey, the students were informed about the study and was carried out on voluntary base. Survey form which was developed by the author through literature review involved 20 questions based on the student's views, approaches and experiences about violence against women, and 7 descriptive questions.The data were analyzed by using SPSS 16.0 statistical program. Findings: The mean age of the participants was 21.56 ± 1.90; all of them were female. 75.7% of the participants noted that the midwives have important role on preventing violence against women. 29.1% of the participants noted that they were experienced violence; 23.3% was exposed to physical, 5.8% emotional violence in any time in their lives. In addition, 15.6% of the participants noted that they were relieved through crying and 6.8% was keeping quiet when exposed violence. 77.0% of the participants noted that they would punish their child when they perpetrate, and if they see the pregnant woman is exposed to violence, 55.9% of them said that they would report to the relevant authorities. Conclusion: Midwifery students who will be healthcare professionals in future were exposed to violence and they were tended to punish their child when he/she perpetrates. They believe that the midwives have important role in preventing violence against women. Recommendations: In order to develop sensitivity and awareness of the midwifery students about the violence against women in the society, the curricula should include subjects on the violence against women. To take more effective role about this subject in professional life, the topic "violence against women" should be implemented in-service training programs of midwives.
