Abstract
Aim: To evaluate the validity of HIF's (Household Identification Files), to find out the missing information and errors and to ascertain the confidence of the data. Method: A total of 48 streets were randomly chosen among 7 primary health care center regions of Antalya City center. In every street a cluster of 5 households were randomly selected. As a result, data from 800 households were collected during four days. Data from each household was collected according to the rules set by the Official Guide Book of the Ministry of Health. Data from existing HIF's in primary health care centers were compared with data from survey results. Findings: HIF's of 160 households (%20) were not found in the primary health care center archives. Information about the education and social security of family members were found to be the most missing data. 0-4 age group was the one which was least recorded in primary health care center files. Results: The major reason for the missing data and errors seen in records is the fact that our health system is not working properly.
