Coronavirüs (COVID-19) Salgını Döneminde İstanbul’da Ölüm Hızındaki Artış

Özet
Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı COVID-19 salgını döneminde İstanbul’daki ölüm hızında meydana gelen değişimi göstermek ve beklenenin üzerinde görülen ölüm sayılarını değerlendirmektir. Yöntem: Bu çalışma COVID-19 salgınının Türkiye’deki ilk iki aylık döneminde yürütülen kesitsel tipte bir araştırmadır. Ölüm verileri İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi(İBB)’nden, nüfus verileri ise Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu(TÜİK)’ndan alınarak, hesaplanan ölüm hızları ölüm hızları oranlanmış ve Risk Ratio(RR) hesaplanmıştır. Bulgular: İstanbul’da hesaplanan ölüm hızlarında 2020 yılında 2018-2019 yıllarına göre 16-22 Mart haftasında %15, 23-29 Mart haftasında %22, 30 Mart-5 Nisan haftasında %48, 6-12 Nisan haftasında ise %55, 13-19 Nisan haftasında %48, 20-26 Nisan haftasında %34, 27 Nisan-3 Mayıs haftasında %23, 4-10 Mayıs haftasında %15 istatistiksel olarak anlamlı artış görülmektedir. Salgının başlangıcından sonraki haftalarda sırasıyla 223; 311; 693; 770; 673; 479, 317, 206 beklenenden fazla ölüm görülmüştür. Sonuç: İstanbul’da COVID-19 salgınındaki ilk 8 haftalık süreçte ölüm hızında haftalara göre %15 ile %55 arasında artmış ve beklenenden 3654 fazla ölüm görülmüştür.
Abstract
Aim: The aims of this study are to show the change in the death rate and evaluate the number of excess deaths in Istanbul during the COVID- 19 pandemic period. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study which conducted in the first two months of the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey. Mortality data were obtained from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) and population data were obtained from Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Death rates were calculated. Risk Ratio (RR) was calculated by proportioning the mortality rates. Results: There were a significantly increase in mortality rates by 15% in the week of 16-22 March, 22% in the week of 23-29 March, 48% in the week of March 30-April 5, 55% in the week of April 6-12, 48% in the week of April 13-19 34% in the week of April 20-26, %23 in the week of April 27- May 3, %15 in the week of May 10. In the weeks after the onset of the outbreak, respectively 223; 311; 693; 770; 673;479; 317; 206 excess deaths were seen. Conclusion: As a result, death rates increased by 15% to 55% and 3654 excess deaths occurred in Istanbul during the first 8-weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic.
