Abstract

Although Ağrı and its environment are very rich in terms of architectural buildings, these have not adequately been studied except İshakpaşa Palace. In this study it is aimed to analyze Ottoman age architectural buildings in Ağrı and its provinces, finding out and examining in detail which have not reached today. The Old Bayezid Castle, which is the oldest one, features original Urartian construction. The castle was ruined during Ottoman-Iran, Otoman-Russia wars and subsequently repaired. İshak Paşa Palace Graveyard and Graveyard Masjid are other Ottoman buildings in old Bayezid. Old Bayezid Mosque which is the oldest mosque in Doğubayazıt features classic Ottoman construction and materials. The Ihsak Paşa Palace in Old Bayezid is famous for its eclectic architectural elements and three dimensional ornamental sculptures. Toprakkale Villiage Mosque in Toprakkale Villiage, which is the center of Old Eleşkirt, features square based and single domed style of Ottoman architecture. Hamur Castle, Hamur Tomb and Şoşik Castle are other Ottoman architectural buildings which are destroyed. Hamur Tomb in town center is an extraordinary building in Ottoman architechture.
