Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the musical features of Pomak folk songs andprovide them to be documented by writing in notes. It is used “descriptivenotation” (Seeger, 1958) in transcription which is based to Western art musicnotation system and makes it easy to show ornamentations. In this study fivePomak folk songs transcripted because they are indicating different features of thetune and the text among twenty songs which are recorded in a field study (from2002 to 2007) was carried out in Çınardibi village of Bayındır County in İzmirProvince and are analysed. In this study, it is revealed that the Pomak folk songs hadcharacteristic melodic structure, the songs classified as of their melodic structureand their themes, the relation between the melody and the lyrics researched.
