Özet

Miyopide aksiyel uzunluk artışı ile kontrast duyarlılığı arasındaki ilişkinin araştırılması amacıyla Temmuz 1995-Şubat 1996 tarihleri arasında polikliniğimize başvuran yaşlan 16-6İ (32.0±12.4) olan 25'I kadın 19'u erkek toplam 44 miyop olgunun 88 gözünde Cam¬bridge Low Contrast Gratings eşeli kullanılarak kontrast duyarlılık fonksiyonu araştırılmıştır. Olgular ultrasonografiyle saptanan glob ön arka aksiyel uzunluklarına göre 4 alt gruba ayrılmışlardır. Glob aksiyel uzunluğunun 24.0-24.9 mm olduğu 1. grupla 25.0-25.9 mm olduğu 2. grubun kontrast duyarlılık değerleri arasında anlamh fark saptanmazken (p>0.05), 26.0-26.9 mm aralığını kapsayan 3. grubun kontrast duyarlılık değerleri 1. ve 2. grubun değerlerine kıyasla an¬lamh derecede daha düşüktü (p 0.05). Miyopide aksiyel uzunluk artışıyla kon¬trast duyarhhk kaybı arasında bir ilişki olup bunun muhtemel ne¬denleri globun aksiyel uzamasının retinanın psikofiziksel fonksi¬yonlarını bozması ve gözlük camlarından kaynaklanan optik yeter¬sizliklerin retinada oluşan hayalin niteliğini bozması olabilir. So¬nuçların istatistiksel analizinde student t testi kullanılmıştır.

Abstract

We have determined contrast sensitivity values by means of a Cambridge Low Contrast Gratings charts for 44 myopia patients of 88 eyes with an average 16-61 years of age (32.0±12.4), 25 females and 19 males, who applied to our clinic between July 1995-February 1996, and this study has been carried out to investigate the relation between axial length and contrast sensitivity in myopia. The patients were classified into 4 subgroups according to globe axial length, identified through ultrasonography. While no significance has been determined in the contrast sen¬sitivity values of 1st group and 2nd group where the globe axial length is 24.0-24.9 mm. and 25.0-25.9, respectively (p>0.05), the contrast sensitivity values of the 3rd group for which axial length ranges from 26.0-26.9. were found to be very low compared with the values of 1st and 2nd groups (p<0.001). While the contrast sensitivity values of the 4th group whose axial length is 27 mm or over are significantly lower compared with those of 1st and 2nd group (p<0.001), they didn't exhibit an important difference with the values of the 3rd group (p>0.05). It has been conclu¬ded that a relation exists between an increase in axial length in myopia and the loss of contrast sensi¬tivity, and probable reasons for that could be the dis¬turbance i« physicophysical functions of retina due to axial lenghting of the glob and distortion of the ima¬gination quality in retina due to optical deficiency of spectacles. Student t test has been used to analyse the results statistically.
