AMAÇ: Trahomlu olgularda trikiyazis tedavisinde argon laser fotokoagülasyonunun değerlendirilmesi.GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Bu çalışmada trahom nedeniyle trikiyazis gelişen ve argon laser fotokoagülasyon ile tedavi edilen 22 hastanın 36 gözü prospektif olarak incelenmiştir. Her bir kirpik tedavisinde 50-200 mikrometre spot büyüklüğü, 0.2 saniye süre ve 1-1.2 W güç kullanılmıştır. 30 kapakta (%83.3) infiltrasyon anestezisi kullanılmış, 6 kapakta (%16.7) ise anestezi kullanılmamıştır. BULGULAR: Tek laser seansından sonra göz kapaklarının %55.5'inde basan sağlanmıştır. Kapakların %44.5'ine ise rekürrens nedeniyle 2 veya 3 seans laser tedavisi uygulamak gerekmiştir. Yöntemin başarı oranı ise %88.9 olarak bulunmuştur. Olguların hiç birinde tedavinin komplikasyonu görülmemiştir. Olguların takip süresi 6 ay ile 22 ay arasında (ortalama 10.6 ay) değişmekteydi. SONUÇ: Trahomlu olgularda trikiyazis tedavisinde argon laser fotokoagülasyon etkili ve güvenilir bir yöntem olarak saptandı.
Abstract
PURPOSE: To evaluate the effectiveness of argon laser photocoagulation for the treatment of trachomatous trichiasis. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This report presents a prospective, non-masked study of 36 eyelids in 22 patients with trachomatous trichiasis treated with the argon laser. Each lash was treated with a beam of 50- to 200 micron spot size, 0.2 second time, and 1 to 1.2 W power. In 30 lids (83.3 %) infiltration anesthesia and in 6 (16.7%) lids no anesthesia was used. RESULTS: Successful treatment with no evidence of recurrence was achieved in 55.5 % of lids after one laser session. The remaining 44.5 % of the lids required two to three sessions. The final success rate of the method was 86.9 %. No complications were observed. The follow-up period in this study varied from a minimum of 6 months to a maximum of 22 months (mean: 10.6 months). CONCLUSION: Argon laser photocoagulation is an effective and safe method for the treatment of trachomatous trichiasis.
