Abstract
This research, consisting of two main parts, discusses Facebook researches published as academic articles in Turkey. In the first part, the studies of social media from the world and Turkey were revised in general and then attention was drawn to the thematic differentiation of Facebook studies over time. When viewed in a periodical context, the findings suggest that, compared with the world, Turkey's Facebook studies are dispersed as they do not cumulatively continue. In the second part of the study, 155 Facebook articles indexed in DergiPark and ULAKBIM databases were evaluated according to categories of year of publication, theme, research method (theoretical/applied), data source, sample and keywords. It is worth noting that Facebook researches, which is becoming an increasingly autonomous field, focuses on users and are studied by quite different disciplines. In these studies, where each discipline conveys its own terminology, it has been observed that subjects such as methodology, ethical problems in data collection and the original dimension of the medium, which are discussed extensively in the international literature, are limited. It was determined that students and young people are the most preferred groups in the sample selection of the studies. Furthermore, the user-oriented structure of Facebook studies have indicated that the studies are based on applied methods rather than theoretical discussions.
