The Southeastern Region that is one of the seven geographical regions of Turkey composes the Upper Mesopotamia. The natural environment factors of the region such as geomorphology, climate, soil, and water have been influential herein. On account of geographical features, agricultural activities in the Southeastern Anatolian Region both had an important place in the past and also are of importance today. For this reason, the historical evolution of the agricultural activities and more intensively the current situation is analysed in this study.
