Abstract

This study aimed to identify the effect of speed reading techniques training on rhythmic sight reading skills in music education. In the literature review process, the concepts of speed reading and sight reading skills were analyzed in terms of eye movement analysis. The “Pretest-Posttest Control-Group Design” was used in the research. The study group consisted of 30 participants chosen among the Undergraduate III and Undergraduate IV level students from the Music Teaching Program of the Department of Fine Arts Education, Faculty of Education, Mehmet Akif Ersoy University. Mixed-Design ANOVA was used to analyze the sight reading skills and pretest-posttest grade points of both the test and control. of this research, speed reading techniques training can be helpful in developing the skills required in sight reading, such as keeping the eye ahead of the note played, and seeing notes in blocks. It is considered that similar studies conducted with different participants and musical pieces that have different characteristics can be useful
