Abstract
One of the most controversial topics in recent years in the world countries is whether religious education should be included in the general education system or not. This can be explained by the beginning of the restructuring activities in the religious sphere and the rise of religion as an important value in the whole world. Today, the question of “Why religious education is needed?” has been solved in the majority of western countries. Instead of this question, “How to teach religion?” is being discussed and different models of religious education in school are being developed. In Kyrgyzstan, debates about “Why religious education is needed?” are still continuing. In order to find out the legitimacy of religious training in the general education system, it is necessary to clarify the importance of religion in life of people and society, and to define the bases of religious education in school. In this article, we will try to find answers to the question of "Why religious education is needed in school?" by explaining the human, social, universal, philosophical and legal bases of religious education in public schools in Kyrgyzstan.
