Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between newborn macrosomia and plasma glucose profile, in both aglucose challenge test positive, oral glucose tolerance test negative group. Material and Method: Pregnant women (n=727) who attended the antenatal clinic and delivered at the hospital were recieved 50gr glucose challenge test. Oral glucose tolerance test was performed to the women with positive glucose challenge test. Gestatıonal age at delivery, route of delivery, weights of infants were collected from patients charts. Results: Nineteen women were diagnosed with gestational diabetes (2.61%), 168 had positive glucose challenge, but negative oral glucose tolerance test (22.97%). We collected the patients charts of this 168 women. Macrosomia occurred in 20 infants (11.9%), 15 were between 4000 and 4500gr and 5 were above 4500gr (2.97%). Conclusion: The overall prevelance of glucose abnormalities during pregnancy was 25.28%. Glucose intolerance in this group was associated with high macrosomia rate.
