Tıbbın birçok alanında hastalıkların tanı ve tedavileri konusunda önemli ilerlemeler sağlanmasına rağmen postoperatif ileus konusunda çok az ilerleme sağlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada sıkça kullanılan anestezi ajanlarından sodyum thiopental 'in postoperatif ileus oluşumunda etkinliği araştırılmıştır. Rat modelinde intestinal transit duodenuma yerleştirilmiş bir kateter yolu ile verilen radyoaktif $Na_{2}^{51}$.$CrO_4$ 'ün ince barsakta ilerlemesinin incelenmesi ile saptanmıştır. Bu çalışmada sodyum thiopental 'in anestezi etkisine rağmen rat ince barsak transitine istatistiki olarak anlamlı bir etkisinin olmadığı saptanmıştır.
Abstract
Despite the major advances in the understanding and treatment of disease in many areas of medicine, relatively few improvements have been made in the understanding of postoperative ileus. This study was designed to determine the effect of sodium thiopental on postoperative ileus. Intestinal transit was determined by administering a bolus of radioactive $Na_{2}^{51}$.$CrO_4$ via a catheter in the duodenum and following its progression through the small intestine in a rat model.In this study sodium thiopental besides its anesthesia effect, had no statistically significant effect on rat intestinal transit, and the inhibition of my oelectric activity seen in postoperative ileus.
