Özet

İzmir Dr. Behçet Uz Çocuk Hastalıkları Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Acil Servisine Ocak-Aralık 2000 tarihleri arasında başvuran 18 akrep ve yılan sokması olgusu irdelendi. Olgular yaş, cinsiyet, ısırıldıktan ilk tıbbi müdahale yapılıncaya kadar geçen süre, hastaneye başvuru süreleri ve yakınmaları, hastanede kalış süreleri, gelişen lokal ve sistemik belirtiler, biyokimyasal ve hematolojik bulgular, uygulanan tedavi şekilleri, gelişen komplikasyon ve sekeller yönünden değerlendirildi. Olgularımızın yaşları 1.5-14 yaş (5,4 ± 3,2) arasında değişiyordu. Bu olguların 12'si (%66.6) erkek, 6'sı (%33.3) kız olgu idi. Hastalarımızın 10'u (%55.5) İzmir çevre ilçelerinden, 6'sı (%33.3) Manisa ve ilçelerinden, 2'si (%11.1) Muğla ve ilçelerinden gelmekteydi. Olguların tümü, bu illerin kırsal yörelerinden başvurmuştu. Hastalarımızın 12'si (%66.6) Haziran-Ağustos aylarında, 4'ü (%22.2) Eylül-Kasım aylarında, 2'si (%11.1) Ocak- Mayıs aylarında hastanemiz acil servisine getirilmişlerdi.. Olgularımızın 15'i (%83.3) akrep sokması, 3'ü (%16.6) yılan sokması idi. En sık sokulan extremite bölgesi ayak parmakları idi (10 olgu %55.5). Bu olguların tümüne polivalan akrep ve yılan serumu ve tetanoz toksoidi uygulanmıştı (%100). İki hastamızda komplikasyon gelişmişti (%11.1). Akrep ve yılan sokmaları yurdumuzun özellikle, Güney ve Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgeleri için olduğu kadar, Ege bölgesi kırsal yöre çocukları için de hala önemli bir sağlık sorunu olmaya devam etmektedir. Bu çalışmayı yapmamızın amacı, bu sağlık sorununa dikkati çekerek, bu konuda sağlık personelinin ve çevre sakinlerinin daha iyi eğitilmesi gerekliliğini vurgulamaktır.

Abstract

Eighteen cases with scorpion sting and snake bite admitted to the Pediatric Emergency Department in Dr. Behçet Uz Childrens Hospital during the period January to December 2000, were examined. The patients were described and analysed by age, sex, site of bite, time between the accident and the first medical care, local complications and systemic manifestations, laboratory findings, mean duration of hospitalisation and, the treatment procedures finally. There were 12 male (%66.6) and 6 female (%33.3) casae and ages ranged between 1.5 - 14 (mean :5.4 ± 3.2) years. Ten cases (%55.5) were from İzmir, six cases (%33.3) from Manisa, and two cases (%11.1) from Muğla. All of the patients were from provincial areas. Month of admission was June through August in 12 (%83.3) cases, September through November in 4 (%22.2) cases and January through May in 2 (%11.1) cases. Fifteen cases (%83.3) had with scorpion sting and three cases (%16.6) had snake bite. The toes were the most frequently bitten site of the extremites (10 cases,%55.5). All of the patients were treated with polyvalant scorpion or snake serum and tetanus toxoid (%100). Although the scorpion stings and snake bites constitute an important health problem especially in south eastern part of our country, the children from the urban areas of Aegean Region are subjected to the same threat. The aim of the study is to emphasize this serious public health problem and warning the medical staff and the inhabitants.
