Abstract
In the research, it is aimed at determining the readiness level of the students who are in the 5th grade in secondary school for associating their knowledge about the unit of "Change of Matter" with their daily lives. Data which is gathered from the research has been analyzed by using assessment criteria which include such categories as "no understanding", "specific misconception", "partial understanding with a specific misconception", "partial understanding" and "fully understanding". Questions in the research have been separately analyzed, frequency (f) and percentage (%) values have been provided for each category and quotations from the answers of the students have been directly delivered. In the research, it has been concluded that the majority of the students have answered as in the categories of "no understanding" and "specific misconception"
