Abstract

Plants are constantly exposed to a great variety of potentially pathogenic organisms, such as viruses, fungi, bacteria, protozoa, nematodes, and can be affected by adverse environment conditions. Plants develop many defence mechanisms to provide themselves from the pathogen attack. When considering plant and pathogen interactions, while the pathogen uses a series of chemical compounds, such as hydrolytic enzymes and toxins, plants have numerous defense substances, which include the synthesis of defense peptides, antioxidants, secondary metabolites, and proteins (Pathogenesis- related proteinler (PR)) with antimicrobial properties besides various forms of physical barriers. Antioxidants are involved in the prevention of cellular damage. This defensive compounds have the ability to decrease the harm, that the patogen causes, to the minimum.
