Independency Problem of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus From The Frame of Regional Security Complex

Özet

Çalışmada, Bölgesel Güvenlik Kompleksi Teorisi çerçevesinden Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nin bağımsızlık sorunsalı ele alınmıştır. Kıbrıs adasının genel siyasal tarihi, sahip olunan politik kültürü ve nüfusun genel yapısı anlatıldıktan sonra, teorinin açıklamasına yer verilmiş ve çalışmada değinilen ana hatları üstünde durulmuştur. Teorinin ve KKTC özelinde yaklaşımının anlaşılabilmesi için, teoriyi oluşturanların Türkiye yaklaşımına da değinilmiştir. Ardından bu veriler ışığında teorinin KKTC özelinde yorumlanması yapılmış ve KKTC’nin bağımsızlık sürecinde kimlerin daha olası seçenekler olduğu aranmıştır.

Abstract

In this article, I evaluated the problematique of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ independency in frame of Regional Security Complex Theory. After discussing the general political history, political culture and population of Cyprus Island, I explain the theory and stress its main principles used in this article. I also refer to the opinions of founders of the theory about Turkey in order to understand TRNC case. Then, I comment on the theory through the case of TRNC with all the data and try to find possibilities for independency process of TRNC.
