Gestational age assessment in preterm and term neonates using new ballard score

Özet

Gestasyonel yaş tayininde yeni Ballard skorlamasinm (YBS) güvenilirliğini belirlemek. Prenatal ultrasonografileri olan ve SAT'leri bilinen, doğum ağırlıkları 800- 3850 gr. arasında değişen 102 bebek çalışmaya alındj. Doğumdan sonraki ilk 72 saatte bütün bebeklere bir neonatolog tarafından gestasyon yaşları bilinmeden yeni Ballard skorlaması uygulandı. Vakaların % 80'inde SAT ve ultrasonografi sonuçları iki hafta içinde uyumluydu. SAT ve NBS gebelik haftaları arasındaki korelasyon katsayısı 0.95 bulundu. YBS hem term hem preterm bebeklerde gebelik haftasının tespitinde güvenilir bir yöntemdir.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the accuracy of New Ballard score (NBS) in both term and preterm infants. STUDY DESIGN: Hundred and two newborn infants birth weights, ranged from 800 g. to 3850 g. and who had last menstrual period (LMP) dates and prenatal sonographic examinations were included in the study. In their first 72 hours, Ballard scoring system were done by a neonatologist, masked to the. presumed gestational age. RESULTS: Eighty percent of the cases had LMP and ultrasonography values within two weeks of eachother. Mean difference between LMP and NBS was 0.3 weeks. The correlation coefficient between gestational age by NBS and LMP was 0.95. CONCLUSION: NBS method is of value is assessing.sgestational age in both term and preterm babies.
