Ankete katılanlardan 41'i (% 15) KPR ile ilgili sorulardan rahatsız olduğunu bildirmiştir. Ankette görülen bir başka sonuç eğitim düzeyi arttıkça kaliteli yaşam yönündeki isteğin KPR'a baskın olmasıdır.

Abstract

The aim of this study is, to inform the participants about cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and get their consent about CPR in some clinical situations. As the prejudice of the medical staff to some kinds of illnesses, to the elderly is well-known, we planned to team the opinions of the patients about CPR. The survey was performed in the out-patients clinic of GATA Department of Internal Medicine. The doctors and 275 patients interviewed facing one-another. Patients were informed with a standard text were asked some questions about CPR. The large amount of the participants (87%) gave consent for the CPR whatever the clinical situation is. But when they were asked to approve the CPR in senile dementia. In which most of the mental functions would be disabled, some of the participants rejected. Again in the situation of end stage renal disease in which the renal transplantation change is not present, some participants also rejected CPR. In the hypothetical circumstance of having advanced senile dementia 66 per cent would definitely want CPR, 23 per cent preferring not to have CPR. Furthermore, in the hypothetical circumstance of having advanced dialysis patient who might be renal transplantation 71 per cent, and having advanced dialysis patient who might not be renal transplantation 54 per cent would definitely want CPR. There were no significant correlations between the responses and sex or age. Of 275 patients asked if they found the questions disturbing, 41 patients (15%) said they did. Another significant result of this survey is the more educated the patients the less consent for the CPR in the situations of physical and mental disabilities.
