Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, okul öncesi öğretmen adaylarının,“Fen” kavramı hakkındaki düşüncelerine ilişkin metaforik algılarını tespit etmektir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2017–2018 eğitim-öğretim yılında bir devlet üniversitesinde okuyan 455 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Öğretmen adaylarının fen kavramına yönelik metaforlarını tespit etmek amacıyla, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomolojik (olgubilim) desen türü kullanılmıştır. Katılımcıların her birininfen kavramı hakkındaki düşüncelerini yazmaları istenmiştir.
Abstract
Thepurpose of the present study is to identify the metaphorical perceptions of prospective pre-school teachers regarding their thoughts on the concept of “science”. The group examined within the scope of this study consists of 455 prospective teachers studying at a state university in the 2017-2018 academic year. Among qualitative research methods, phenomenological pattern type was employed in order to detect their metaphors concerning the concept of science. Each participant was asked to write down their thoughts on the concept of science. Then, thoughts of students on the same concept were analysed with the data gathered from these forms. Upon analysing the findings, it was found out that based on categories, the number of negative beliefs on the concept of sciences were higher than positive ones. A general overview of the research results reveal that based the three categories with the most metaphors (scientific knowledge, constant change/development, and science a pursuit), the prospective teachers are familiar with the definition and purpose of science as they regard the subject of “science” as a body of scientific knowledge, believe that there are a progressive process and pursuit in order to attain scientific knowledge, and think that this knowledge issubject to change and development.
