A case with alopecia related to risperidone use

Özet

Alopesi, saçlı deride ve bazen bedenin diğer bölümlerinde kısmi veya tam saç kaybıdır. Etiyolojisinde çok sayıda etkenin yanında ilaç kullanımı ve bazı psikotrop ajanların etkisi de bildirilmiştir. Alopesiye neden olabilen psikotrop ajanların içinde yeni kuşak antipsikotikler diğer gruplara göre daha seyrek görülmektedir. Literatürde sıklıkla olanzapin, risperidon, ziprasidon, loksapin, ketiyapin ve haloperidol ile alopesi olguları bildirilmiştir. Şizoaffektif bozukluk tanısıyla izlenen olgumuzda risperidona bağlı alopesi gözlenmiş, nadir görülen bir yan etki olması nedeniyle olgunun izleme ve tedavi süreci ve alopesi olgularına yaklaşım anlatılmıştır. Abstract

Alopecia involves the loss of some or all of the hair from the head and sometimes other parts of body. The etiology contains a lot of factors including drug use and psychotropic agents at sometimes. New generationl antipsychotics are less frequently accused, compared to the other psychotropic agents. In the literature, olanzapine, risperidone, ziprasidone, loxapine, quetiapine and haloperidol are the reported drugs associated with alopecia. Alopecia which may be seen rarely, was observed in our patient with schizoaffective disorder, thus in this report the patient’s followup, treatment process and approach to alopecia cases were described.
