Otto dini, bir taraftan "Kutsal"a dair bilginin gelişmesi, diğer taraftan Kutsal'ın belirginleşmeye başlaması sonucu tarihin getirdikleri diye tanımlamaktadır.

Abstract

According to Otto, religion begins when people feel mysterious feelings. True religion is a proper mix of logic and illogicality, free from superstitions. Otto speaks of three factors that influence the historical development of religion. The tendency of the person to believe and the presence of the stimulus is their first. Secondly, it blindly affirms the change in the history of the sanctuary and the resulting change in religious experience. The third is based on these two factors, the followers of religion know, feel and desire “the Holy”. Religion is the result of the ending date that the Holy is beginning to manifest from the other side by developing from one side knowing “the Holy”. Otto speaks of three non-independent subjects such as “cognition”, “feeling” and “conation” which correspond to thinking, feeling and tenderness in the study of religious consciousness. The development of religious consciousness has been caused by Numen’s fright and the first stage of demonic fear. The need for worship and the direction of worship is caused by fear. According to Otto, religion is nothing without earlier stages of mystical and evil experience. In this context, it is important that Otto speaks of “cruder phases” in the formation of religious beliefs
