XIX. Yüzyılda Osmanlı münevverleri İmparatorluğun içinde bulunduğu zor şartların üstesinden gelebilmek için çeşitli alanlarda eserler kaleme almışlardır. Abdüllatif Subhi Paşa da Hakâiku’l-Kelâm fî Târihi’l-İslâm adını verdiği eseri ile Hz. Peygamber (sav) ve Râşid Halifeler dönemine ait olayları farklı bakış açılarıyla ele almıştır. Subhi Paşa’nın eseri, Osmanlı siyer literatürüne katkı sağlamanın ötesinde aynı zamanda sıkıntılı günler geçiren müslümanlara nasıl bir tavır takınması gerektiği üzerinde durması yönünde tavsiyelerde bulunması hasebiyle de orijinal bir eserdir. Eser, son dönem Osmanlı ve İslâm tarih yazıcılığını anlama ve ilk dönem İslâm tarihine bakışı ortaya koyması açılarından önem taşımaktadır.
Abstract
Since the early periods, Muslims have always had an interest in the history of the Prophet (pbuh) and the Four Rightly-Guided Caliphs, not only for the purpose of learning about their lives, but also to get inspiration from them in finding solutions to their contemporary problems. Evidently, this interest led Muslim historians to compose numerous books each of which played a significant role in the emergence and development of Islamic historiography. During the XIXth century, Ottoman intellectuals also authored many books in various fields in an attempt to overcome the difficult conditions of the Empire. In his work entitled Haqāiq al-Kalām fī Tārīh al-Islām, Abdullatif Subhi Pasha covers the periods of both the Prophet (saw) and the Four Rightly-Guided Caliphs and investigates the historical events of these two periods from different perspectives. Subhi Pasha’s work is in many respects an original literary piece, as it fills the lacuna in this field and also affords invaluable advices to Muslims as to how they should behave and conduct themselves while going through hardships and facing challenges. The book, therefore, sets an important example for understanding the late Ottoman and Islamic historiography and reading the early history of Islam from the viewpoint of an Ottoman historian.
