Bulgular: Çalışma 154’ü (%43.8) erkek, 198’i (%56.3) kadın olmak üzere toplam 352 olgudan oluşmaktadır.

Abstract

Aim: Health; physical, social and psychological is a complete state of goodness. The quality of life con- cept has become increasingly important in health care practices and researches in order to measure health-related well-being. Quality of life is a broad concept which is influenced in a complex way from the person’s physical health, psychological status, beliefs, social relations and the relationship with his environment. It is known that age, gender, marital status, educational status, environmental conditions and diseases are the factors that affect quality of life. In Family Medicine, which is a biopsychosocial app- roach to the patient, it is expected that the factors affecting the quality of life will be determined and will show an approach to improve the quality of life of the patient. The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of life in the different patient groups with WHOQOL- BREF-TR scale and to determine the factors affecting the quality of life. Materials and Methods: This study was designed in cross-sectional descriptive research design. The qu- estionnaire was preferred as a data collection tool. The population of the study consisted of inpatient and surgical branch services of Tepecik Training and Research Hospital between January 1, 2014 and May 31, 2014. The WHOQOL-BREF-TR quality of life ques- tionnaire was applied to the participants. Results: The study consisted of 352 cases 154 male (43.8%) male, 198 female (56.3%) male. The mean age of the patients was 54 ± 18.2 (min: 17, max: 91). 176 (50%) of the patients were inpatients and 176 (50%) were hospitalized in surgical branches. The WHOQOL-BREF-TR scale was found to be significantly lower in the patients with physical, psychological and environmental aspects than the patients in the surgi- cal branch (p <0.05). Discussion: In this study, patients with internal and surgical branches were examined and a significant relationship was found between quality of life and internal and surgical branches. The quality of life scores of the patients who were in surgical branches were higher than the patients who participated in the study. These results show that patients with chronic dise- ases in internal branches have lower quality of life than those with acute diseases in surgical branches.
