Özet
Bölgemizin stratigrafik dizisini bir seri münavebeli, çamurtaşı (=mudstone) ile umumiyetle dereceli tabakalanma gösteren kumtaşı tabakaları teşkil eder. Toplam kalınlığı 3400 metre civarında olan Ludlovien (Üst Silurien) yaşlı bu dizi, «bol kum fasiesli» ve «bol çamur fasiesli» olmak üzere birkaç formasyona ayrılmıştır. Kum taşları grauvak tipinde olup, umumiyetle türbid paleo-akıntılara atfedilen birçok sedimanter strüktürler teşhir etmektedirler. Bu strüktürlerin işaret ettikleri yönler istatistik usullerle araştırılmış ve elde edilen neticeler paleocoğrafik bakımdan yorumlanmıştır.
Abstract
The stratigraphical succession in this area consists of a series of alternating mudstones and sandstones, the latter generally exhibiting graded bedding. This succession, which has a total thickness of approximately 3400 m.f allof Ludlowian age, has been divided into a number of «sand dominant» and «mud dominant» formations. The sandstones, wich are of graywacke type in texture and composition, usually exhibit many sedimentary structures which are generally associated with turbidity current deposition» Directions of sediment transport as indicated by some of these structures have been measured and subjected to statistical analyses. The results thus obtained have been interpreted from the paleogeographical point of view. Attention has also been paid to the relationship between these current directions and the direction of tectonic axes, which are oriented roughly ENE-WSW, plunging towards ENE.
