Determining Science Teacher Candidates’ Safe Laboratory Use Objectives Through the Theory of Planned Behavior

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı fen bilimleri öğretmen adaylarının Planlanmış Davranış Teorisini kullanarak, laboratuvarı güvenli kullanma konusundaki davranış amaçlarını incelemektir. Araştırmada ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada, araştırmacı tarafından Planlanmış Davranış Teorisi’nin öngördüğü şekilde ve ölçek geliştirme basamakları dikkate alınarak “Güvenli Laboratuvar Kullanımını Gerçekleştirme Ölçeği” geliştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini Türkiye’nin 5 bölgesinden 1087 fen bilimleri öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin analizi için SPSS 21 ve AMOS 23 programları kullanılmıştır. Ölçeklerden elde edilen veriler yapısal eşitlik modellemesi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Ölçeğin tümü için Cronbach Alpha güvenirlik katsayısı.961’tir. Araştırma sonucunda, fen bilimleri öğretmen adaylarının “Davranış Amacını” açıklamada “Algılanan Davranış Kontrolü”, “Davranışa Yönelik Tutum” ve “Öznel Norm” faktörlerinin etkili olduğu belirlenmiştir.

Abstract

The aim of this study is using the Planned Behavior Theory to examine the behaviors of science teacher candidates about safe laboratory use. The correlational survey method was used in the study. In the study, ”Safe Laboratory Use Scale” was developed by the researcher in accordance with the Planned Behavior Theory and by taking into account the scale development steps. 1087 science teacher candidates from 5 regions of Turkey constitute the sample of the study. SPSS 21 and AMOS 23 programs were used to analyze the data. The data obtained from the scales were evaluated by structural equation modeling. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient for the whole scale was .961. As a result of the study, the effects of “Perceptual Behavior Control”, “Attitude Towards Behavior” and “Subjective Norm” factors were determined in the explanation of the “Behavioral Aim” of the science teacher candidates.
