Durirg th" last decades anew trend in historical research is appa~rent. This new trend has three dimensions: a). The increasing preference for quantitative methods and methods of rigerous thinking; b) thegrowing interest in mu1tidisciplianary problematique; c) the extensionof the research field, to embrace aspects of every day life and actualissue~. Development of cities is for instance, one of the en yogue etxensive historical research domains. in the light of these observations theunderlying study is very much worth reviewing.
